Policies and Procedures

School policies cover every aspect of school life. Below are some of our most important policies for your reference.

If you want to know our policy on something that is not listed, please ask the school office where paper copies are also available.

Illness

If your child is ill, please follow the advice from Public Health England.
It will provide details of common childhood illnesses and tell you whether they need to miss school and for how long. There is also useful information about immunisation.
If your child is unwell and cannot attend school, please telephone the office.
We encourage parents to organise medical/dental appointments outside of the school day. Where this is unavoidable, please ensure that you contact the school office.

Medicines at School

If your child is required to have medication administered in school, please complete the permission form and send it in with the medication.
The form can be downloaded below or a hard copy collected from the school office.

Absence in Term Time

There are 190 school days in one academic year.
There are also 175 days of weekends and school holidays for families to enjoy together.

If a child misses just one day a week through primary school, they will have missed the equivalent of 1 years education by the time they start secondary school.

As a result the school does not authorise family holidays in term time.

If a child does need to be absent for school for a reason other than sickness absence, parents are asked to complete a form which is available on request from the school office.

For more information about absence in exceptional circumstances, the school's attendance policy can be downloaded from this page from the list of policies below.
