Reading Challenge

Reading Challenge

As Doctor Seuss said, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Reading is an activity that we highly value at Long Mountain . It is such an important activity for children (and adults) to regularly take part in. Over this half term we will be holding a competition to see which pupils can read the most amount of words each week. Using our Accelerated Reader scheme we will be able to track how many words have been read once they have successfully completed the quiz based on their book.

Each week we will be presenting awards to those who have made excellent progress with their reading from each class.

Children in Class 2 to Class 3 have already read 1,695,165 words since September and this equates to 531 different books being read and quizzes completed.

I am challenging our pupils to reach 2 million words by February half -term!
